Names

I see that Jordan and Peter André have named their new daughter 'Princess Tiaamii'. Right. We'll take them both much more seriously now, won't we!

If I ever have a son, I shall be calling him 'Raylord'. It's a name I thought I discovered when looking through old birth records, though in fact it was just 'Raymond' and was a bit smudged. Raylord, however, is a fantastic name. It's a bit futuristic (like ray-gun) and a bit royal (it's got 'lord' in it - which is a bit religious too, I suppose) and it's wholly original.

Yes, Raylord Moore, my future offspring. With a strong manly name like that, there's absolutely no chance of him being called "Gaylord" or "Raymongo" or something cruel by the other kids at school, is there?

Of course, my heart is so set on Raylord that I've no idea what to do if we had a girl baby instead. It's a toss-up between somethign sophisticated like 'Sauvignon' ('Sovie' for short) or something pretty like 'Geranium'...

Edit:

Damn! I've just Googled for Raylord and there are a few people with that name out there. If it's not unique then I don't want to use it.

Mind you - one of the people I found was called Raylord Focker. True!

worse, did you read the reasons why she's called that? Peter's grandmother is called Thea, Jordan's is called Amy, so they put the two together, added an accent to make it look more exotic, and put two ii's on the end to make it a bit different.... Poor child!

I can't help but imagine how these children with there exotic names will feel when they're in their middle/old age. (Note, Clare, the use of there, they're and their!)

Picture them sitting around at the Age Concern Day Centre:

"Well, Chelsea, how did you get on at the doctor's today?"

Word verification is Ymshu. I think that would make a good name for either sex.

"Thanks for asking, Princess, he's booked me in to have my varicose veins done next week. I hope Cruz will be able to cope."

"...children with *there* exotic names..."?

Clare will be very cross with you!!!

Well Pete about time you and your lovely wife produced some offspring - your not getting any younger my friend. Besides then you could combine your house warming party with the christening saving some money that you will need to raise your child.

Oops, indeed! Well it was right when it was in my head. My fingers typed it wrongly. Nonetheless - sorry Clare.

(Actually I think it was Blogger. It's been a right bastard today, and that word verification bit was DEFINITELY not smack bang in the middle of a conversation). So there!!

Of course, when you do have your own little darling, you could follow the Andres' lead and combine the grandmothers' names. You'd get Chill. Excellent. Of course, you might want to honour the aunties: Angelanne.

Of course, you might want to be a bit more bold and name it after yourselves. It's a good one...

Katheter!

Note to self: might want to consider using "of course" less in future comments...

I always thought Engelbert humperdinck was an inspired name.

ALthough I did fight NOT to name my daughter "Intertia".... inspired by The Wonder Stuff's album track of the same name.... I think it's on HUP... the lyrics are quite inspirational

Not to self (which by the way is also a track by Miles HUnt from The Wonder Stuff):

I must not use "inspired" or "inspirational" again today....

and should probably find out how to spell it too.

Of course, I'm finding all these comments very inspiring!

Of coure I've been inspired by the others offerings - and the language from your mother is very ripe - now I know where you get you telephone manner from. But back to names what about Mosham combining your surnames ?

petercmoore said...

Some fantastic suggestions here.

"Mosham" isn't bad, though it sounds more like a middle name to me, Dave.

"Katheter" is inspired Jo! Though I think it might have the piss taken out of it! Ha!

"Chill" is very good. And it works for boys OR girls.
