Four Thoughts

1. Only a 3-day week this week, which means it doesn't really feel like Friday, but it's still the weekend tomorrow. Hooray!

2. I keep bumping into people who I wouldn't have thought would read this blog and have never commented, but tell me that they do read it from time-to-time. At the moment I write this with a fairly specific audience of about half-a-dozen people in mind (hello Mum, Jo, Dave, Mary, Chuckie and Dave). So please, if you are an occasional reader who never comments, do leave me a comment to this post. Just click the link below which says "pertinent musings". You don't need to have/create an account, just click the "Anonymous" button. But please do tell me who you are, how you found the blog and how often you read it. Thanks!

3. Just before Christmas we had a team lunch and "prize-giving" in the office. The award categories were all totally bogus (e.g. I won DBA of the Year, which is nice, but I'm the only DBA in the company!), but I won a couple of nice certificates and some chocolates for the Christmas tree. What's the best award or prize you have ever won?

4. I noticed a few weeks ago that my header image doesn't stretch across the whole header. It doesn't seem to matter what size image I upload to Blogger; it just gets shrunk in the process. If you're looking at the site in a resolution larger than about 800x600 (and doesn't everyone nowadays?) the header looks awful. Anyone know how to fix it?

In answer to Q3. A Chipped tea cup for playing 4-a-side football. It almost caused a fight over who was to keep it too - strange what is important to 10 year olds. Oh and I bet you wouldn't have won the DBA award in your last job !

In response to your request I read your blog now and then and, sadly, I had to look up DBA!

D: I think as a 10 year old I was obsessed with the Bionic Woman. But I can see how a chipped tea-cup has its own special fascination.

Judy: thanks for popping your head over the parapet! I linked to Wikipedia's definition of a DBA for that very reason. Maybe I should print it out and when people ask what I do for a living I could show it to them...

Hi. Well I'm anonymous reader of your blog. I found it by accident a couple of years ago googling for something that brought you up. I liked what I read so I saved it and I read maybe once a week now you post more often.
Happy New Year!

Hi. I'm Jo. Love your blog. Long-time reader, long-time commenter.

I won an award at work for my integrity. I got a £100 Red Letter day thing that I spent on a Spy Day for Thomas. I also got a framed award thing with a game in it that looks sort of nice-ish, maybe. That was back when I had integrity... And back when they gave out awards for things like integrity. Ah me... Those were the days...

Anonymous: You mysterious and enigmatic person you! Thanks for dropping by.

Jo: Ah, integrity. It's like sincerity - when you can fake it, you've got it made.

Hello, I read your blog daily and I often comment.

I've had two awards that I can think of: a book, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, awarded for 'good speaking' (??!) when I was at school and the Ottershaw Players' Cup which, as you know, was shared (because the Moore family rule, OK).

I once won "Employee of the month" when I worked for Landmark. Which gives you an idea of the range of employees that worked there.

I've been nominated for "Disgruntled Employee of the month" several times at IBM. ALthoug I've never won it (it usually goes to people that have gun licences) I'm still hopeful.
